Dorchester Presbyterian Church was
organized in 1976 and from those beginning days, we have focused on
family involvement in the life and work of the church. Families serve
as greeters/ushers, receive the offering, prepare communion, assist in
worship with the reading of Holy Scripture, and help in the nursery.
Our Church facilities, which are in use
seven days a week, are situated on an attractive five-acre campus. We
also own and maintain and adjoining 48-acre wildlife sanctuary with
3/4 miles of walking trails.
Dorchester as a congregation is unique
in that of our five buildings, the members have constructed four,
using the in-house expertise and labor of the congregation.
We operate the Good Shepherd School, a
pre-school and childcare center in our education building. A staff of
23 people serves 90 children and their families.
Sunday School classes are offered for
all age groups and we have an active youth ministry.
Our church members have
enthusiastically supported an ongoing yearly mission trip and
relationship with St. Joseph's Home for Boys in Haiti. Church members
helped organize the Dorchester County Habitat for Humanity. We also
serve regularly at the Interfaith Crisis Shelter by providing the
evening meal, support the Palmetto House in Summerville, and on a
monthly basis, provide personal items to My Sister's House, a shelter
for battered women.
We invite you to come and join us as we
seek to be Christ's faithful people in this community.
